03/10/05 - The Hightailers are HERE.
Potroast is HERE.
Carolyn Wonderland
Scott Daniels Band
56 Hope Road
Tracy Conover
Long Beach Short Bus
Drop Trio
Sunday acoustic 1 - January 23, 2005
Sunday acoustic 2 - January 30, 2005
Sunday acoustic 3 - February 13, 2005
03/07/05 - An album for the Hightailers has been stored on Ofoto, which made sense because many of us already use it through Texas-Tribe. I've gone ahead and deleted the shots from this site that I've got in the album so far, and between that and the Sunday jam at LCC photos the site loading is quite a bit faster. Next to be created will probably be Potroast, because of the equally giant amount of bandwidth they're using for the site (thanks, Cari, for graciously provinding me with proper names and spellings for the new site). Eventually, I'll pare this blogspot site to a few good pictures of each band with a link to their own album or gallery on Ofoto where you can go straight to the bands you want. There, Dogman, is that better?

Don't forget to scroll down for photos from Carolyn Wonderland and Tracey Conover at Dan Electro's 02.12.05 show, along with last week's Hightailers, Scott Daniels Band, and 56 Hope Road shows at Last Concert Cafe'.

Last Concert Cafe' Sunday acoustic jam, February 13, 2005 ~ Okay, I might have mentioned to a couple of people that I got a new 128 mb memory card, so that gives me close to 200 great-quality shots per session. I ran out of card space on Sunday. This is about half of the shots from the acoustic jam, but I still have many more to upload so if you were there and don't see yourself yet, watch this space!

Hey, Kids ~ LBSB photos
I didn't go to Dark Star Orchestra at the Meridian, but I hope someone got some good shots. Meanwhile I've gotten behind in my posting and somehow have a few Potroast shots from Wednesday night I'll try to post later on. Also, a couple of people have asked about the Long Beach Short Bus show at Fitzgerald's in January, the long and short of it (ha, I've been dying to say that) is that I got some really great shots but I'm afraid to post them anywhere until I hear back from them whether or not they like them and don't have any legal problems with me doing so. Soon as I track down an email for appropriate permissions and stuff, I'll hope to post those shots from a truly intense, kickass show.

And isn't it ironic...don't you think?
Don't laugh, I still listen to Jagged Little Pill. Or, I would, except that on New Years' Day, someone walked past my car and swiped my entire CD collection out of my vehicle. Combined with being robbed at gunpoint some five days later, I'm wondering why 2005 has thus far been a year of attempts to divest me of my stuff. I don't think I've been particularly materialistic or covetous up to this point, so it might be a lesson in the opposite, since I am pretty irresponsible and careless with my own stuff. Maybe it's all about cleaning out the floorboards in my car and taking better care of the CDs I have left, I dunno.
I don't think 2005 got the drop on me in the right places, though. I read back over the words I wrote two weeks ago and I can only imagine and shudder to think that if I'd have corked it in the robbery, what a sappy fucking eulogy. But ya know what? It's fine. I meant every word. I'm clear on all that, it's the times we should have said "I love you" and didn't that may be the last things we ultimately remember. And man, that would suck. That's the lesson in 2005. That, and take better care of your shit or someone might just divest you of it.

Happy New Year and Thank You for 2004
Wow. What a long, strange trip it's being. Looking back all nostalgic-like and sappy-sentimental for the holidays, as 2004 draws to an end, it occurs to me that we have all grown so much and given so much love. I am forever grateful for the people who have pulled me through this year, supported me through some very uncertain career days, helped me navigate what it means to be alive and giving at a time in my life when I was extremely close to withdrawing altogether. I hope that I will always have the presence of mind to be touched when I think of the way my Last Concert and Tribe family has shared its music, love, visions, homes, and their kindness and downright largesse anytime I come around, no questions asked, just hugs and love. Not just the folks on the stage in the photos, either. Not by a longshot! The Tribe makes it all real, all happening. Last Concert Cafe' is one of those places you go when ya don't even know who's playing,, because you love the people who'll be watching whatever-it-is with you. And it always rocks.
I know that I won't always be so lucky. I'm sure there will come a time in my life when I can't find a soul to talk to; times in life when I can't buy a hug. Ups and downs are part of life, duh. I guess that's why I keep turning to my friends and loved ones and babbling, "We are so lucky. We're the luckiest people on Earth." There will come a day when photos of Carolyn, Scott, Cole, Screamin' Kenny, all those guys, will be tightly-controlled by the record companies or some fancy press agency, when nobody's allowed to tape under penalty of death and law. Yeah, yeah. I'm just grateful that they've been so indulgent of my little photography hobby, and I hope none of the shots that I think are most interesting are hated by their subjects. The art may be subjective, anyway, but my deepest gratitude is not.
Thank you, friends, for this amazing, kick-ass rock 'n' roll year.

Most of my shots start out pretty bad because I try my hardest not to use flash at shows, because it's really obnoxious. If I can't get a real-looking shot, I go for the gusto and run a photosuite program to start tinkering with colors, hues, and textures. I could do digital photography all day if I got paid to just hang out and do art, but there's evidently no money in it. I guess I'd spend a lot more time trying to get seriously better at it if there were.

The guest guitarist, against the far wall, is the legendary Teri Greene.
